Just checking in...

We are home from vacation and DH still has a couple of days off of work. I haven't even stepped foot into my scrap space since before we left last week but am hoping to make it down there today to at least put away the goodies that Santa brought me. :) I am really excited to use the new Martha Stewart Scoring Board that I got, as well as the 2.5" Xyron & refills. I think for adhering small items the Xyron is my favorite tool. I've avoided purchasing the larger ones in the past not truly certain that I needed them. I finally asked for the 2.5" since more and more often there were occasions where it would've made things much easier. I'm sure I will get back to creating here in the near future as there are some projects I really want to get done. Hopefully I'll be back real soon with something creative to share. Meanwhile, I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and has a wonderful New Year!

Christmas gift for my mother-in-law

My mother-in-law doesn't particularly care for computers, so I know I can safely publish these pics before Christmas and not have a problem. :) The other gifts I've made however will have to wait. LOL She doesn't have a dedicated sewing area to work in, so all of us kids are getting together and pitching in to create one for her. This is my contribution to creative storage for a small space. It is a 14"x14" stretched artist canvas that I painted silver. Then I mod-podged a piece of SU paper to a 12"x12" metal sheet. I glued the metal sheet to the canvas and then embellished with ribbon, buttons, and flowers. I used E-6000 to attach magnets to the back of the clear plastic storage cases that I purchased in the bead area of the craft store. The cool thing about these containers is that the compartments are various sizes, so she should be able to store a wide range of small notions in them. :) I most likely won't be updating again until after Christmas, quite possibly New Year's. So I'll take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year! May the Lord be with you and bless you.

O Holy Night card

Well it took me a couple of days longer than I intended to get our cards done and ready to mail. I have been busily preparing for Christmas and figured I'd better take a picture of the cards I made before I sent them all out in the mail. LOL I am really please with how these have turned out. They are rather simple, but boy I sure was beginning to regret my choice of two colors of glitter by the time I made 50 of these!!! Enjoy!

I don't have anything crafty to share today, but I do want to share a new blog that I started this morning. You can find it here. I will have another card to show tomorrow. I need to finish adding glitter. :D I hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Well, now that I am done with my scrap for hire projects such as these Christmas cards and the 95 bookmarks I just finished making (and forgot to take a picture of before delivering them), I am hoping to get on to making the Christmas cards I want us to send out for our family. If all goes well, I will have time to do that tomorrow. :) I also have a few more small scale paper crafting projects to finish up over the next week and a half before Christmas. I have many tasks yet to do that involve a date with my sewing machine. That should be interesting to say the least. :-0 So if I don't post for a while, no worries, I'm probably just being held captive by my sewing machine. I also have holiday baking to get started on this week. I've been invited to a cookie swap on Wednesday evening that I need to make 6 dozen cookies for. It'll be hectic to get those done, but I am sure it will be well worth my time! Until next time, happy scrappin'!

Christmas Cards

I did these cards for the same friend as yesterday's birthday cards. :) I love how they turned out, even if they are on the simple side. All images are from a holiday image swap I participated in a while back and are all from CTMH. The cardstock in the first & last cards is from a My Mind's Eye paper stack that I bought. The second card uses CTMH Aspen papers and the 3rd one uses CTMH Evensong Creative Basics papers. Enjoy!

Tic-Tac-Toe Board

Here's the tic-tac-toe board I created for the game box for my nieces & nephews. This one is a bit more girly than the checkerboard but I think the boys will probably still play with it anyways. ;) The board is one I bought in the unfinished wood aisle at Michael's, and the legs for it are little wooden spools from the same aisle. I used glass gems that are larger than what I used for the checkerboard I posted yesterday. The glitter in the center of the flowers doesn't show up as well as I would've liked, but all in all, I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

Game Box

I created this game box for my nieces & nephews to play with on rainy days. I used a scrapbook storage box I purchased at my LSS, and decorated a piece of foam core board into a checkerboard and then glued it down into the recessed area of the lid. The checkers are made from the clear glass gems that are so popular for crafts right now. I also used lots and lots of mod-podge! LOL Hopefully it will hold up well. Inside are an assortment of card games, a box of dominoes, and a tic-tac-toe set I made. I sure hope they like it!
