Decorated Box & Coordinating Card Set

I've had this project sitting on my desk all week ready to share with you and have just not gotten around to it. I have had the headache from $%&# all week long that just doesn't want to go away. I even went and chopped off my hair yesterday. I had five inches cut off. While my headache didn't go away because of it, the pain I was having in my neck was amazingly better. I couldn't believe just how heavy my hair was. I know there are many women who would love to have my thick, fast growing hair, but wow it can quite literally be such a pain at times! LOL In spite of the pain I've been in this week, I am in amazingly good spirits. It's been a really good week - headache notwithstanding - and I find myself being incredibly grateful for the many blessings in my life.

I made this set for a good friend for her birthday tomorrow. She is always ordering stuff from me, so I thought I'd surprise her with a set of cards she doesn't have to pay me for. :) She loves handmade items but doesn't want to do it herself. I got the directions for the bow from Naomi, and she is right, I can totally see how they'd be addicting to make. I probably should've used a smaller bow for the box, but it was so fun to make and see how it turned out. I'll just have to make sure and do a smaller one on the next Ipod box I decorate. ;) Oh, this project was also supply friendly....I used 1 sheet of dsp + a couple of scraps, and 3 sheets of cs (1 of each color). That was for the bow, box, and the cards (1 dozen). I love it when I can do a project with so little. :)

Junior Legal Pads....Again....

Are y'all sick of these yet? As much as I love making them, I am totally sick of them at this point. LOL A friend hired me to make these and I'm sure they won't be the last ones that I make for her. I am on to other projects at this point....slowly but surely. I will have something other than a notepad to show you tomorrow. :)

Technique Class Cards

I made these cards last week with the ladies who attend my monthly technique class. This month we focused on dry embossing w/ the cuttlebug and basic heat embossing. We made these three cards which are all based on sketch 121 from Mojo Monday.

The cardstock used is white core and we used an emery board to sand the embossed area and edges of the cardstock for a distressed look.

Magnetic Noteboard

I used the same basic supplies for this project as I did for the Christmas gift I made for my mother-in-law. It is a 14"x14" canvas that I painted all around the edges and let dry. Then I mod-podged a piece of patterned paper to a 12"x12" piece of metal (also purchased at the same craft store). The decorated metal was then glued to the canvas using E-6000 craft glue.

I won't be using this one to store scrappin' supplies, but it will hang upstairs on the door that leads out into our garage. I am in the process of making some magnets for it that will have each our names on them as well as some with chores listed on them. We will be using it as a chore chart of sorts. I can rearrange the chores to go with whichever name they will go to for that day. For example, the kids take turns unloading the dishwasher. It is a simple rotation that simple goes from youngest to oldest and then starts over again. If we've eaten out or I've gotten behind on doing dishes, I will sometimes forget whose turn it is to unload the dishwasher and the kids aren't always too anxious to volunteer this info either. LOL So I'll have the kids (or I'll do it) move the magnet for "unload dishwasher" under the name of whoever is supposed to do it next. Hopefully it'll keep us all on track and the kids can look at this to know what they need to do rather than me having to remind them a bazillion times. (you can stop snickering now....a girl can dream, can't she?)

Covered Jr. Legal Pads Part 3

The last two covered notepads...for my friend Tauna, and my mom. My mom is in love with the House Mouse images. Well the ones she has seen anyways. So she is always asking if I can make her something with the really cute cat and mouse images. LOL

Mojo Monday 120

Yet another covered junior legal pad. One of my friends that I gave one to asked me make some for her to give as gifts. This is the first one of five that I have made (or will make) for her. :) I decided to give this week's Mojo Monday sketch a try. It's a great sketch and was lots of fun to work on. I realized after I had my image all colored in and the ribbon adhered, that I really should've used ribbon with more green than blue in it. Oh well c'est la vie. Other than that, I just love how it turned out. Like I've said in the past....decorating these notepads are an absolute breeze & just like designing a card since they measure 5"x8". Oh and the new Martha Stewart Scoring Board I got for Christmas makes these even easier to make. I am loving the new scoring board!!!




It's a little hard to tell, but there is a bit of glossy accents on her eyeglasses and stickles on the flower on her hat. The scalloped circle is pop dotted. The patterned paper with the birds & leaves is actually the backside of the main patterned paper. The brown that is under the red is also from the backside as well.

Covered Jr. Legal Pads Part 1

I wanted to get these made before Christmas for a few of my friends and just ran out of time before we headed out of town. Hopefully they'll forgive my lateness and love me anyways. :) The first notebook is actually for me and the second one is for my friend Lila. I wanted to showcase these two side by side because they are actually made from the same piece of 12x12 paper. There is no stamping involved at all on the first one, and the only stamping on the second one is the peaches stamp that I added. I thought the designs of the paper were just gorgeous all by themselves and didn't really need much....other than glitter of course. I just have to add the bling. :D

Altered IPOD Box

I needed a small gift box for a friend's gift, and wanted to make the box part of the gift. I saved the box my IPOD came in last Christmas thinking it would be great for altering since it has so much white space on it and is quite sturdy. It only took a few minutes to put together, but turned out super cute, although I don't think the picture does it justice. I was having a hard time getting a good picture.

Altered Letter

Em needed a quick birthday gift for her friend Sarah and wanted me to make her an altered wooden letter like I had made last summer for all of our girls. These are a lot of fun to make and go together pretty quick.
