I no longer have a craft room, but rather one wall of the dining room and the kitchen table. It makes it a bit more difficult to craft, but I am so glad to be back at it. It's nice to make what I want to make, when I want to make it, with whatever materials I want to use. No more buying supplies because they're trendy or the latest thing. No more "must have it all!" mentality. I will craft because I love it and because I
I visited the Mojo Monday blog this week after being away from it for a very long time. It feels like forever. I was reminded of why it is one of my all time favorite blogs/challenges. It doesn't matter what materials you use. It can be paper you've had in your stash for 10 years. It simply doesn't matter. What does matter is being inspired and using the sketch they provide to make something totally unique to you. After being burnt out due to years of creating what might sell or what other people might like, it feels good to keep it simple and to not have to worry about brand & trendiness.
Rather than making a card, I chose to decorate a notebook. It's actually a Strathmore 300 series mixed media art book. I put this together for my daughter. I have been teaching her the basics of Zentangle and she also likes to draw & color. I thought that this notebook would be just the thing she needed to encourage her. One of her passions is photography which is why I chose the stamp that I did. From the stamped image to the tie-dyed background paper, it is just simply her. Thank you Mojo Monday for inspiring me to create something special for someone I love!
